MULTITASKER GIRL IS A "BEAUTIFUL BABY"

Thursday, September 28, 2006

Today I got the sweetest morning text from Ray. He's been sending me texts when he goes to work since I leave while he's still in bed. I ate lunch with him and Anthony for the second day in the row which is always nice. Today we went to Old Chicago. Since my lunch breaks are way shorter, Ray usually orders my food before I even leave the office. Of course, I can't do that every day since the time restriction becomes too stressful, and I know the guys need some time to be alone with their manly thoughts now and then. Anthony is awesome though, he's my favorite of all Ray's friends because he says it like it is, even if it's to my disadvantage =P

I also had a fairly successful day at work. I do believe I accomplished a lot and am definitely a lot more confident with my cases. We also had a pep rally for the corporate challenge being held this weekend. I'm in the bowling team =D I worked a couple more hours of overtime and headed to Ching and Brian's to borrow Ching's bowling ball. (I guess my bowling ball was accidentally donated off during Mom and Dad's move. No biggie, I haven't been bowling much anyway.)

While I was at the east side I stopped off at Becky's apartment and watched Ugly Betty premiere. I LOVE this new show. You always know I love something when I YouTube it.

I will definitely try not to miss any of the episodes. Becky says it's just like the movie "The Devil Wears Prada." Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to catch that movie so I will definitely have to place that DVD on my wish list.

Tomorrow should be a fairly non-stressing day. I work from 6:30am to 12:00pm and then bowl for the corporate challenge from 1pm to 3pm. Then Ray's surprise dinner and maybe some more Megatouch marathons.

Life is getting better and better. I guess the only left to hope for is being able to wear jeans to work tomorrow =P

MULTITASKER GIRL LOVES JOSH TURNER

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Any woman that doesn't find this man adorable is lying! He is actually scheduled to have a concert tomorrow in Kansas City, MO, but I will not be there. * sob * It's okay maybe some other time. For the meanwhile, I got some videos. I got so desperate to find all the songs I like that I even went through Bolt.com. I didn't find "What It Ain't" though so if anyone has that please share =D

*********************

As for my day today, nothing spectacular. I ate lunch at Playa Azul on Mosley with Ray and Anthony. Work was pretty stress free, and I even stayed for overtime. I'm planning on doing more overtime again tomorrow night. After I post and publish I'll be heading downstairs to pack some more clothes and by that time Ray should be finishing up with class. He and Ching were supposed to be doing some presentation tonight so I hope that goes/went well. We'll see.

MULTITASKER GIRL SAYS "THAT'S NOT ENOUGH"

You've Experienced 64% of Life

You have all of the life experience that most adults will ever get.

And unless you're already in your 40s, you're probably wise beyond your years.

No I am not close to being 40, but I still don't think I've done half of what Life's got in store. As well, I will be the first to admit that I am far from being "wise beyond (my) years." C'mon now, seriously?

Maybe someday I can say I've seen all seven wonders of the world, or all the still hidden villages in every country. Maybe someday I can afford to be a true vagabond. Then maybe I can say I've experience 50% of Life, and even then THAT will be a big maybe.

For now, I iron my clothes little by little attempting to organize my closet. I sit and bug my son while he watches TV after work every day. I do homework, blog, and keep email correspondences simultaneously. I set my alarm before I go to bed every night, and create a mental to-do list for the next day. Then I go to work and start the whole process all over again. I sure hope that is not 64% of what Life has to offer, and I hope that when I am 40 years old I'll be doing more exciting things. (Well, maybe I'll still bug Logan while he watches TV, I think that will always be funny.)

MULTITASKER GIRL READS DOROTHY PARKER

Finis

Now it's over, and now it's done;
Why does everything look the same?
Just as bright, the unheeding sun, --
Can't it see that the parting came?
People hurry and work and swear,
Laugh and grumble and die and wed,
Ponder what they will eat and wear, --
Don't they know that our love is dead?

Just as busy, the crowded street;
Cars and wagons go rolling on,
Children chuckle, and lovers meet, --
Don't they know that our love is gone?
No one pauses to pay a tear;
None walks slow, for the love that's through, --
I might mention, my recent dear,
I've reverted to normal, too.

MULTITASKER GIRL EVOLVES

Saturday, September 23, 2006

Tonight I discovered new special powers. My ability to convince guys they want to pay for my drinks and my hypnotizing way of convincing people that I'm funny. Yay me! I had a really crappy day yesterday, as you may have heard I wasn't feeling all too well. I was just going to hang out with some friends at a bowling alley but decided at last minute to head downtown instead. I thought a relaxing night with a random megatouch machine would bring me back to life. I went to Liquid to start it out and some random lit my cigarette and paid for my drink. Awesome, but please don't talk to me =P I think he realized after 30 minutes that I was serious about my game and left because I turned around and he was gone. Whew!

Around 10:50pm George let me know he was at the Pumphouse so I headed there. It was packed! I went in to get him and told him we were leaving. Thank God he didn't object. We went to Heroes and stole a booth in the back. I basically just vented to him, while he tried to fend off drunk people that kept telling him he looked familiar. We decided he is a drunk magnet since this went on the entire night. Heroes started getting packed around midnight so we went back to the Pumphouse to reunite with his friends. I remember Josh and Shawn, the rest of the names are a blur. It was pretty hilarious though. We started the conversations with a series of jokes. Mine weren't big hits...big surprise. Joke telling is not a forte for me.

Shawn tried to pull a movie stunt on one of the waitresses telling her that her tip is his lottery ticket. They would split it! Remember "It Could Happen To You"? Right. He scored a phone number from the whole deal. Go Shawn!

When we left I spotted a familiar face though I'm debating wether I'm right or not. Michael. Michael is a character from years gone by. I met him when I use to work at a gym, he was home for Spring Break. Michael at the time was going to school at San Diego University and played football there. He was a linebacker, and through numerous long distance calls (that I had to pay Mom back for) he explained to me what a linebacker does. I remember being real fond of him, we kept the long distance thing going as long as any long distance "things" go. Well, I can't waste time reminiscing. The guy I thought was him stopped mid conversation to stare at me so I couldn't help but notice him, and I thought for a moment staring back wondering if I should ask him who he was but decided against it. What good would it do really? But of course, it would be nice having that friendship back.

Regardless, the night that was meant for relaxing on my own turned out to be crowded but still highly enjoyable. And now that I'm back home I still feel invigorated from the whole experience. I should have no problem getting up early tomorrow to pick up my new glasses. Yes, the optometrist office called this morning to let me know they were ready to be picked up, but per previous blog I felt so poopy I couldn't really care less. So tomorrow I will go get them and I will be happy to finally see 20/20 again.

Good night, everyone! Thanks for the great night.

MULTITASKER GIRL SHARES WORDS OF WISDOM

HORMONE HEADACHES = KRYPTONITE!
I left work early yesterday attacked by a villainous headache. I stopped by my doctor's office and asked for assistance. I don't think they took me seriously since they offered an over the counter cure. Maybe that's what I get for not making an official appointment =P.

Desperate for relief I started to self-diagnose on the drive home. I thought possibly, the headache was related to chronic back pains. I called a local chiropractor while still driving and set an appointment for 20 minutes later, just enough to reroute and drive to their office. The doctor was nice, the therapy was soothing and the adjustment gave my back relief, but not my head. I was still weak and helpless. I got home right as the tornado sirens went off. Surprisingly I managed to crash in bed and sleep through it.

Last night, armed with the philosophy of "As long as I act fine, I am fine," I set off to Ray's house ready to help him with his take home mid-term exam. Still proving weak, helpless and now worthless, I was instructed to lay down. No arguments, I was happy to oblige. I was woken up around 8ish, to severe stomach pains. What is happening to me?

As I type, the throbbing sensation in my head has subsided and being replaced with a dizzying effect, and my stomach is unsettlingly unsettled. I am a walking wreck! But I dare not claim defeat - no, not me. I am up and researching, and here's what I've gathered so far. I am suffering from hormone headaches. Something my coworker has suggested and something, as I read from my previous blogs, that I've been experiencing since June. (One of those moments I can honestly say that journaling is beneficial.) And I quote from June 30, 2006 "Freakin' migraines, ugh!!!! My back hurts, ugh!!!! I'm dying!!!!"

So, before battling this foe I must first find out what it is, how it functions, and what weapon can kill it. Women of the world take note:

Symptoms of a Hormone Headache
The symptoms of a hormone headache are similar to migraine headaches. A hormone headache affects only one side of the head, and the pain is often described as throbbing. Hormone headache pain may cause nausea and vomiting, and is often aggravated by bright light and loud noises.

In my case my entire head hurt, though most of the pain occurred on the left side from my left temple to the back of my left eye. I did experience nausea at work, but did not vomit, though I did run to the women's for an episode of dry heaving.

Oral Contraceptives and Hormone Headaches
Use of oral contraceptives also alters estrogen levels and hormone headaches. One third of female migraine sufferers experience fewer migraines while taking oral contraceptives. For another third, hormone levels altered by oral contraceptives make their migraines worse.

The exact relationship between hormone headaches and oral contraceptive use is unclear. Women are more likely to experience their first migraine while taking oral contraceptives. .. For women using oral contraceptive, hormone headache frequency also rises during the "sugar pill" week when estrogen level changes.

I'm not a BC pill user myself, though I can speculate that the basic break down of Ortho-Evra (the patch) is fairly similar. So the onsets of the hormone headaches for me occur 2 to 3 days into my fourth week. So we can safely conclude that these headaches are estrogen related. Fantastic, now what?

Hormone Headache Treatment and Prevention
Triptans, a family of migraine medications, are often used in hormone headache treatment, and may fend off a hormone headache if taken early into headache onset. If hormone headaches are a predictable part of premenstrual syndrome and menstruation, triptans can be taken one to two days prior to expected headache onset. Over the counter NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) can be used in the five to seven days before a menstrual period, if recommended by a doctor. NSAIDs such as aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen decrease the frequency of hormone headaches and relieve some premenstrual syndrome symptoms, such as cramping.

One note of caution if using NSAIDs or triptans as preventives for hormone headaches: Overuse of these medications may lead to rebound headaches. Consult your doctor for the best hormone headache treatment, and follow dosage recommendations carefully.

My coworker who used to suffer from the same thing also recommended Relacore. I haven't gone to look for it myself. She told me that it was a weight loss medicine, but actually helped relieved her hormone headaches. My main concern with the Relacore alternative is that with my current weight I cannot afford to lose anymore pounds, but it might just be the miracle cure for you, so ask your doctor. Of course, always consult your doctor before taking any medications, self-prescribing is very dangerous, especially since we're dealing with the body's chemistry.

For right now, my only relief is the fact that I put on a new patch this morning. That ends it all. So hopefully around noontime I will get up from my nap as if I had been napping like Rip Van Winkle and not remember the whole ordeal.

MULTITASKER GIRL - THE REAL "MAID OF MIGHT"
I am not Kara of Krypton. I am Jenni of Earth. My super powers are not something alien, nor something I was born with. My power is something that took 25 years to perfect. I am a Multitasker!

Stemming from the fear of being left out I mastered the art of being in more than one place at any given time. I can consolidate lunch dates with doctor's appointments, do homework while I drive, and successfully attend three or more dinner functions in one night.

Learning from the age-old lesson that Time is Money, I do laundry, wash dishes, vacuum and watch TV all at the same time.

Determined to play all the roles I have in life - daughter, sister, mother, friend, employee, student, etc. - seemlessly and simultaneously, I am Multitasker Girl!
