I had cut and paste the intro I wrote for class Thursday night. I wanted to post it in the blog because, at the time, I thought it was funny. But, at the time, I was also semi-buzzed. Oops! Andy and I both have class after 7pm on Thursdays so since we both got off work at 5pm last Thursday, we decided to have a pre-class drink (or two.) That was not the best idea. During the ceremonial introduction to the class, I almost stood up and said, "Hi, my name is Jenni, and I'm an alcoholic." The class went from 7:15pm to 10:15pm and I exerted all my energy into not being as squinty. Never again.
Though it did help me go straight to bed after class, which made me feel like a waking Rip Van Winkle the next day. It didn't hurt that I was wearing my sexy shoes either. After work I headed to O'Briens with my coworkers and had a couple before we all headed our separate ways to get ready for the night ahead. Met up with everybody downtown and had a blast. I lost my DL and student ID in the process, but it was all worth it.
The rest of the weekend basically followed suit, but today is my make-up day. I have tons of reading and homework to do. That's basically where I am at right now. I have tons of downloads I have to install for my classes. Right now, I'm having some install issues, which is starting to warrant a smoke, but I'm trying to stick it out. Plus, I decided to make verb flash cards for Spanish, basically to help me review from the little 3 week break I had form last semester. Yes, when it comes down to doing school work, I can be very focused. How do you think I end up with those 4.0's?
Well, also, I've found I work best with motivation dangled in my face. I promised myself a manicure after all my programming homework is done, and I'm down to only the reading parts. Anyway, back to work then.

Back to work on this beautiful Monday. Not much going down yet, just a pinched nerve on my right shoulder. Ah, the aches and pains of being old. LOL.
Classes start tonight, and I'm very excited. However, I also realized on the way to work that I have no school supplies. Usually not a big deal, all I need are notebooks, but I don't have those. Ewl! I have no time in between work and school to get them so I'll have to think something up quick.
I also flaked on Eli's return home. Somehow, I kept thinking he'd be back Tuesday, but I guess he got back Saturday night. Oops! Well, I told him to get a hold of me tonight if he wanted to get together, so that should make up for it.
Last night was pretty cool. Carla and Paul made dinner and it was delicious as always. Hung out for awhile and headed to Landon's party. Got to play pool with some of his friends which was fun. I felt bad that I couldn't go to the after party but work and school comes first. (Right?) Anyway, there's always this weekend.
Speaking of weekends, I'm being pulled from all directions to take a road trip. An invite to go back to Memphis, a trip to gamble in KC with Andy, and of course, my sick obsession with going to Corpus. Hmmm... Perhaps when I get my syllabus for school I can see where my schedule stands now. Well, atleast some excitement is coming my way. Andy has a friend from New York coming in this weekend and that will be a good excuse to run buck wild for a night or two. =D
Okay, time to concentrate on work, and maybe grab a snack. Today is a bit slow so pardon my rant.
"The bug" is what I've self-diagnosed myself with, so I've been indoors most of the weekend. Of course, no regrets, tons of fun and lots of inspiration. =D Tonight, however, I'm breaking free and fulfilling two social obligations before fall semester begins again. I have a dinner party at Carla's for her birthday, and a party for Landon at Liquid. Yeah, I know, it's hard work being me.
I'm also working on a new project, another book. Can't talk about it much, right now, but it's so huge I'm contemplating cutting my nails off just for its sake. It's going to be awesome! So excited!
Anyway, I have tons to do before I have to start getting ready for the night ahead. Not to mention the week ahead. Classes start on Monday, so I really have to get a move on. Kisses to everyone I missed this weekend, and hopefully this semester will not be as hectic as last so I won't have to miss everyone too much.
Had a little get together last night, instead of a hang over all I ended up with was a sugar high, and tired eyes from wearing my contacts all night. Man, I'm an oldie.
I actually have been feeling ill recently. It might have some to do with stress, some to do with the recent heat, or some to do with my new 3000 calorie diet. The diet theory came to me just now. I think I've been conditioning my body to accept so much calories that now it throws a fit if I miss a snack time here and there. Of course, changing your daily intake of anything will always affect your body, so I probably should have already considered this. Ugh!
Thursday night I was so fatigued I actually fell asleep early. That's surprising considering I have a real problem falling asleep. Hence the blogging at 1:45am.
After work today, I had a major migraine. It was already brewing at 4pm but I decided it was only due to my eyes being tired of wearing contacts all day, and that taking my contacts off after work and getting a brief nap would fix it. Not so. It was so bad I actually took two Excedrines. Yeah! I took medicine! Icky! That shows you how desperate I was. Even after that, it took another hour and a half nap to get me going. I'm still a bit nauseous, but atleast the hammering head ache is gone.
I wet to the Anchor for a bit to NOT watch a band with Eli and Chuck. The opening act played the guitar but didn't sing, and the headliners played LOUDLY but didn't sing either. No wonder it was only a two dollar cover. We were missing half of the show. Anyway, Nickel Creek came to mind but Eli and Chuck thought I was talking about Nickel Back and I was severely disappointed. Mostly because Eli has been such a long time stalker that he should have already seen some of the music video clips on my website several times. So again, here is Nickel Creek. I'm posting two songs to permanently engrave them on everyone's minds. (And, yes, Nickel Creek is Bluegrass, that's what I mostly listen to. Country, Folk, Bluegrass, Twee Pop and mostly everything else that false in between.)
The Smoothie Song: No lyrics (I got a no singing "song" because it seems Eli and Chuck are into that.)
When in Rome: Lyrics below - my favorite Nickel Creek song to date.
"When In Rome"
Where can a sick man go When he can't choke down the medicine the old doc knows A specialist came to town, but he stays at home Sayin', "No one knows, so I don't" Honey, when in Rome
Where can a teacher go Wherever she thinks people need the things she knows Hey those books you gave us look good on the shelves at home And they'll burn warm in the fireplace Teacher, when in Rome
Grab a blanket, sister We'll make smoke signals Bring some new blood It feels like we're alone
Grab a blanket, brother So we don't catch cold From one another I wonder if we're stuck in Rome
Where can a dead man go The question with an answer only dead men know But I'm gonna bet they never really feel at home If they spent a lifetime learning How to live in Rome
BTW, I saw this posted at the courtyard at work and I've been meaning to post it. It was hilarious at the time.
That's it, I'm gonna try to sleep now. Tomorrow is the Potluck Pool Party with my coworkers so I have a lot to take care of in the morning. Must...not...flake! Night!
Jen brought me pictures in pictures frames for my new desk at work. I'd like to be able to bring more in, unfortunately dual monitors don't leave a lot of desk space so I might have to resolve to pinning them on the cubicle walls. We'll see.
Ray's planning on being away for the weekend. Something about VIP passes to the Open in Oklahoma, visiting his aunt and uncle with his parents, blah...blah...blah. All I know is he's going to be gone *pout* and because he's struggling to finish his project at work he's been putting in 11 to 12 hours a day. So we got up ubber early this morning and here I am.
I did bring some good reading material though.
The Zen of CSS Design woohoo! Ugh! I've been trying to avoid stylesheets for awhile now. I usually have Ching to call on for that. But I took an XML class and along with DOM and Ajax, CSS (I guess) will also be covered. Ewl! I've already glanced at the insides of the book and it goes just like every other design book, an intro about the creation of the net, W3C, and so on and so on, and so forth. (Speaking of other design books - Ching, I need my JavaScript book back now.) This is going to be a fun class. Well, hopefully, I'll learn enough to keep it interesting.
Woke up. Packed lunch. Headed to work. Tried to do some more planning for the Potluck Pool Party this weekend. Worked eight hours. Left work. Drove to school to buy my books for the fall semester, starting August 20th. $300 gone. Drove to Derby, packed some clothes, picked up dinner, drove to Ray's. Had a mini-nap, got up went grocery shopping, stopped at the liquor store and grabbed a bottle of Lambic, my little night cap.
Now, watching TV and playing on the laptop, and drinking my "night cap" while Ray works out in the gym. Of course, he leaves the door wide open for me, so I can hear him laughing at whatever he's watching on the flat screen in there. The door is wide open because I'm totally convinced that his basement is haunted and I refuse to be left alone in any room down here. Don't laugh, I'm serious.
Here's a clip of the new Beowulf trailer. This is for E, it has a bit of Angelina's boobies, you probably have to slow-mo the clip a bit to get a good look though.
It looks like a good movie. 3D can't hide crazy though, good thing the character she's playing is already crazy to begin with. BTW, this movie with be so much better if they kept the Gerard Butler as Beowulf, from the Beowulf and Grendel movie.
If he doesn't look familiar, he's King Leonidas from 300. Yeah, you know I'm getting that DVD soon as I get a chance to actually deviate from the home/work routine.
Yeah, I was looking for an excuse to post pictures of him. Sue me!
