MULTITASKER GIRL MEETS SCOTT SPEEDMAN

Thursday, November 29, 2007

So last night after class I agreed to meet Apple and Andrew at Pumphouse to celebrate their wedded bliss. Apple and Andrew were late, as always, so I sat there for awhile until this guy with a foreign accent asked to sit by me at the bar. He was alone so immediately a red flag went up and it read "he is going to try to talk to you."

I tried hard to not look in his direction but he was determined and after hearing my conversation with the bartender, he asked if I was born in the U.S. Usually, not being born in this country is the conversation starter so I just nodded yes, and looked away again. He then proceeded to take the next 30 minutes trying to explain how it was easy for him to tell that I was born here because I had no accent, and that English is a really hard language to learn, blah, blah, blah. Awesome! So not trying to be rude I tried to do my nod, smile and look around routine hoping that would hold out until Apple and Andrew got there.

When they did get there he did not stop talking to me like normal creeps usually do. Normal creeps realize that you are no longer alone and they should no longer interrupt and walk away. Not this one. He told us about how he'd been in the country 7 months from Brazil, he was married for 9 days, last night was the night of his divorce, and I was the first girl he'd talked to in 10 days. So I resigned to the fact that we were stuck with him for the night, it was already past 9:30 and I really did not want to stay late. So to stop the awkward him-talking-us-pretending-to-care conversation I invited him to just play pool with us. Ha! What happened next is freaking hilarious!

He started getting very touchy, started calling me sweety, enough that Apple kept giving me the Ching eyes, and I had to not sit down so I could constantly move away from him. At one instance I was standing with the pool table between me and the table we were sitting at, and Apple came over to talk to me in Tagalog about the situation, then Scott Speedman walked in. Hahahaha! Okay, maybe just a look-a-like. So I start talking about that guy to Apple, but in Tagalog, and somehow the word guapo got said and Foreign Guy's ears perk up. I say, "Oh now he thinks we're talking about him because guapo is the same in Spanish." But I said it in Tagalog of course. Well, then a barrage of naughty Spanish came spilling out of Foreign Guy and I was like "Whoa!" inside but outside pretending I didn't hear an effing word.

(And now comes the best part, the catalyst to the sweetest evening EVAR!)

My friend happened to be over there talking to Scott Speedman and Co. I ran over to him and did my damsel in distress pick up. I said, "I need your help. I need you to go over there and tell that guy we are hooking up so you disapprove of me hanging out with him." To which my friend looked at me like "We're hooking up?" So before he could interject I added, "Not hooking up like (make-out gestures) but you know, pretend hooking up." To which Scott, (all cool like with a the most adorable smirk replies,) "I'll hook up with you for not pretend. Tell him you're going home with me." Instant reaction = The nerve! So I just glared at him, looked back at my friend who was already distracted about something else. Ugh! By that time, Apple and Andrew had already joined me and advised me that Foreign Guy had at this time invited us all to a barbecue at his house, and is now talking to another girl. Hahahahahaha! I hear Scott tell his friends to bail for Biggins, and inside I feel defeat but was not completely distraught since he already gave me the punk kid vibe with one crass remark. Slowly I retreated back to our tiny table to enjoy the rest of the night without creepiness.

Apple and I recapped the night for Andrew who missed out on half the fun because Apple and I kept talking smack in Tagalog. I told him about my semi-crush on Scott, to which he replied, "They said they were going to Biggins." Well, I'm not going to chase down some punk kid, so bleh, we stayed put finished our drinks.

When we got up and I turned around to head to the bar to tab out...Ta da! Scott was sitting the the bar. Hahahahahaha! I position myself right beside him, ask for my tab, and then turn and say "How was Biggins?" I thought it was a smooth move, I was very proud of myself. I'm semi-tempted to write everything we said verbatum but I'll stick to the main points. Somehow I got convinced to stay longer, I think the deal was that I wasn't going home with him, but as a consolation price I'll sit with him while he waits for his friends to get ready to go home. I told Apple and Andrew I was staying and I got one last Ching eye for the night.

So here's how the rest of the night breaks down. Scott wasn't there with friends, he was there with his older brother who just got out of a 4 year relationship. Scott was not drunk, was not wishing he was drunk, he needed to work "in the A.M.", and he was ready to go home an hour ago. We had some semi-bonding until a little cute blonde walked by and he did one of those follow-across-the-room stares. Buzzzzz! Defeated again! I turned around gave up on White Russians and ordered a glass of wine.

They stood beside me and discussed how each other looked familiar, Scott says he thinks he saw her in an airport, on a flight to Denver, she says she's a flight attendant, so it's possible, he says he remembers she was really dressed up, she says she doesn't dress up for Denver - that is her commute, then she remembers she saw him on a flight to L.A. but she thought he lived in L.A. she didn't think she'd ever see him again. Hugs and nice to see you agains. Exit stage left.

At this hour I'm regretting ordering another glass to sip on, I should have already gone home, I am an idiot because this guy with his dark denim, white v-neck tee, zip up jacket, and wool-knit cap, decided to talk to me for about a minute and I deluded myself. How did I forget about the little cute blonde flight attendants that have already staked their claim on guys like him. Ah, whatever. Scott finished his conversation, turns around and he is just another kid to me. He realized I'm no longer chatty, and perhaps realized I'm not quite entertained, he walks around his brother and his brothers friends, a bit aimlessly, and comes in a full circle back to standing beside me.

I feel bad, I look at him, ask him if he's okay. He tells me I'm really pretty, I thank him, and ask if he needed me to buy him a drink. He laughed and told me if he wanted one, he'd get one. Fine. He says he likes my style. I have no clue what he was referring to. I ask him if he's drunk, he says no, just tired. He starts staring at me weird, like trying to read my mind, and I was starting to stare back like sending subliminal messages. I look around to break the transmission, the Megatouch is taken, so I invite him to play pool. Sure he says.

I start to win, and he starts to make bets. If I win I go home with him, if he wins he takes me home. I laughed as a response. His turns comes up and I talk smack because I do. He looks up and looks absolutely sober and serious "Did you want me to run this table?" I say I'd like for him to try. My big mouth! But first game was practice. The second game sealed the deal. It did. Before we were done his brother had sat down, and this time was waiting for him to get ready to go. I lost the game and had no intention of going anywhere but home. He asked for atleast a hug, he got one, he asked to upgrade to a kiss, I gave him one on the cheek. We exchanged numbers and they left. I stayed longer to close my tab and talk to my friend a little bit longer. Head home, and get a phone call.

Hahahahaha, bitin! That's where the story ends.

I liked recapping last night because it was very eventful. Plus, who would have known I would find Scott Speedman in Wichita. The resemblance was uncanny, everything matched. The face, the body, the mannerisms. Not like I know how Scott Speedman acts in his daily life, but I think it would be the same to my Scott. Ah, this just proves that being picky pays off. Because when you settle for second best, you end up making yourself unavailable for when the perfect one comes walking past. Hee hee hee!

A picture of me near the end of my work day.

Got up around 6am and stayed in bed long enough to get sleepy again. The late shift does not suit me. Got to work with no time to spare, so needless to say I was hungry. (I'm always hungry.) Carl sends me in IM asking me if I'm hungry. He must be psychic! Carl brought me a Wendy's meal. Yay, Carl! So that put me on the right foot to start my day.

I did some homework, those that I needed to get done for the night, and even a bit of studying. Whew! I was reminded by my Outlook Calendar that I had a Toys for Tots meeting at 12:30pm and it barely gave me enough time to catch my break. So around lunch time was pretty hectic for me. After lunch, however, it started to simmer again. I got a couple articles written, and Carl stayed late to help me decorate a coworkers cube. Carl is my favorite new helper.

Okay, so today Apple and Andrew got married at the courthouse, and Mom and Dad were their witnesses. Apple had asked me to go to dinner with them afterwards but since I have class tonight I asked for a raincheck.

I get off work in less than an hour and have to immediately get to class. It will be intense, especially since I have this headband headache that is escalating into a real headache. Poor me!

My coworkers had bombarded my cube with stripper dust. Yay! I basically spent the first 30 minutes of work trying to clean my chair and my keyboard. It's still all over the place though.

And a couple more pics from Friday night courtesy of Apple's camera:

Fun times.

Well, I should start working soon. Tonight again...

MULTITASKER GIRL STARTS ANOTHER MORNING

I remember I found this CD, and it seems I've lost it again. Bullocks! I guess I'll settle for a semi-waking up through YouTube. Here's hoping I actually make it past the shower and to work today =D

MULTITASKER GIRL HAS QUITE A START

Monday, November 26, 2007

So I do my morning blog, because I didn't have to be at work until 10am. I'm very relaxed laying in bed, jamming, thinking of what I will wear for the day, then I realized - I have a slew of online homework I have to do today! Not just a couple. Basically, 3 hours worth of exercises, and this to add to what I already knew I needed to do which was two collage projects, and an hour's worth of reading. All together, it seemed a bit too much to try to do during my break time at work. So I called in. I literally was in the bathroom standing in my towel already, trying to debate if it was worth missing a day of work for. In the end, school work won the priority war.

So, I've camped out in front of the TV, (the best way I know how to do homework,) and watching C-Span (very interesting,) and I can't do my two collages yet because I've lost my proposals, and I believe it is in another bag in my car. I will brave the cold to get that later, and perhaps also clean the car out a bit. I'm going to start reviewing my Spanish so I can do the online exercises, then find time to do my reading for my XML class. As well, perhaps today, I will find time to: stop by Margarita's to pick up the deposit I put down for last weekend's party, go to the jeweler's to have my new charm put on my bracelet, stop by hobby lobby to get some fabric paint, grab a couple more mags for my collage projects (I feel like a kindergartener all over again,)buy the last present I needed to get for Christmas, wrap christmas presents, and maybe hem a pair of slacks, all before I have to go to class tonight. I mean, if I have to miss out on a full day of work, I might as well make it really worth it, right?

All right, well here goes nothing.

MULTITASKER GIRL - "TODAY'S THE DAY"

Sara Bareilles - Love Song

Head under water
and they tell me to breathe easy for a while
the breathing gets harder, even i know that

You made room for me but it’s too soon to see
if I’m happy in your hands
I’m unusually hard to hold on to

Blank stares at blank pages
no easy way to say this
you mean well, but you make this hard on me

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's
make or breaking this
if you’re on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I’m gonna need a better reason to write you a love song today

I learned the hard way
that they all say things you want to hear
and my heavy heart sinks deep down under you
and your twisted words, your help just hurts
you are not what i thought you were
hello to high and dry

Convinced me to please you
made me think that I need this too
I’m trying to let you hear me as I am

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's
make or breaking this
if you’re on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I’m gonna need a better reason to write you a love song today

Promise me that you'll leave the light on
to help me see with daylight, my guide, gone
'cause I believe there's a way you can love me because I say

I wont write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's make or breaking this
is that why you wanted a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one you see
I’m not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's make or breaking this
if you’re on your way
I’m not gonna write you to stay
if your heart is nowhere in it
I don’t want it for a minute
Babe, I’ll walk the seven seas when i believe that there's a reason to
write you a love song today

MULTITASKER GIRL CELEBRATED BIG

Sunday, November 25, 2007

I've been fairly busy, as everyone has noticed. I know that is usually my excuse, but this time, it didn't rain - IT POURED! School's been down to the wire, and I'm getting close to finishing the semester out. Hopefully, with yet another bang. At work, when the tax season simmered, I thought I would get some down time. Not quite. Aside from having about seven birthdays to organize, and the Toys for Tots campaign coming up, I also got assigned to a side project which is taking up most of my time. I've actually been working 10 hour days. Whew! Even skipping lunches, which is not a big deal because usually I try to get my momentum going, that's how I work best.

Of course, I also organized my birthday MONTH celebration. I thank everyone for all the presents I've gotten over the days. Jen gave me a sweater, a blanket, and a Kurt Halsey print. Ching gave me a sweater shirt. Mom gave me a gold charm, and so did Tita Esper. I'm so happy. We've been celebrating all month but the top off was this weekend. Friday night my coworkers met up with me at Margarita's, Saturday I spent the day with friends, shopping and eating at Hana. And then tonight Mom had a get together at her house, and after a couple bottles of wine, I do not think I will get a lot of homework done. =D

There's not a lot of pics because those in charge of that have not emailed them to me, which is okay. I'm having a hard enough time trying to get this blog finished. I'm back to work tomorrow, and then school. Ugh! Someone remind me to call Becky, in case she doesn't read this tonight, I can't make it to Memphis next month. Too much to do bach here. But most def, I will visit again. As well, I'm thinking of taking the AmTrak, (just for the sake of taking the AmTrak,) to go to Chicago. Tita Esper's kids say it's a fun place to be.

Oh, and Andy's last day at work is tomorrow, he got a job at Koch. Woo hoo, Andy!

Okay, that's it. I need to take a nap or something. Hee! Hee! I'm trying to do another night out before it's back to business. Paalam!

MULTITASKER GIRL CATCHES A BREAK

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

I got to work and found my early birthday presents from Jennifer. AWESOME! I got a Kurt Halsey canvas, a pink sweater and a pink throw. It was the bestest surprise ever at work. I showed everyone on the floor.

I brought homework I intended on working on today, but have yet to get to it. Mostly, I've been visiting with Ray and telling ghost/vampire stories. Hahahahahaha! We're dorks! I think I've convinced him to go to my birthday dinner, it'll be fun, especially if Ching and Brian end up making it. Anyway, Jennifer brought me lunch from Cafe Asia at noon, and my lunch wasn't until two, so now I'm sitting here without anything to do. Ray is trying to send me instant messages but I think he's not completely set up. Maybe I'll do homework now...maybe.

MULTITASKER GIRL HAD QUITE THE WEEKEND

Monday, November 12, 2007

Tried to go to bed and nap after work Friday night, then Katie called. She woke me up and we met at Finn's. Very fun! Saw tons of friends, plus on old flame. *Sigh!* Anyway, Katie and I managed to end up at Heroes and then back to Finns before finally ending the night.

Saturday I tried to stay indoors, atleast during the day. I got to watch License to Wed. I ate most of the day, which is always good. I felt like a pampered princess. By the end of the night I also got to watch Dan In Real Life, which was not as funny as I expected it to be. So now, I'm in this kick of watching movies again. Woohoo! Watching movies is only fun with certain people anyway.

Sunday night I went out with D, Apple and Andrew. Just for a couple hours to play pool, and relax with drinks. I managed to get home by 10:30pm so not a bad night.

Currently back at work, I just wanted to update the blog for a bit, before getting back to work mode. As an added Monday bonus, I guess what Jennifer is giving me for my birthday and am negotiating getting it early. I'm so excited. It's going to be awesome! I will post pictures once they are securely in my grasp.

MULTITASKER GIRL SLOWLY RECOVERS

Friday, November 09, 2007

I'm still hacking my lungs out but atleast the dizziness has somewhat subsided. I'm looking forward to resting this weekend. I need to catch up on my reading, eating, watching TV and sleeping. Basically, a weekend of nothingness. Well, atleast that's the plan. Somehow I always find myself out at the bars though, but this weekend I'm going to try really hard not to go out. I'm struggling already.

I'm trying to stay in until my birthday celebration. That's going to be last hoorah into being settled down, (or so I'm hoping.) I'm planning a big blowout for my birthday. I've already invited a handful of friends to go out with me on the 23rd for dinner and drinks. If you think you want to join us please RSVP, there's a headcount that's needed by noon tomorrow since we do have to rent space out. If you don't think you'll be available by 8pm that day, no worries, just show up after dinner. Anyway, after that night I'm going to try to minimize going out, because it's time.

Oh, and as an update, I was watching TV last night and managed to surf into this TV show called "Man vs Wild". It's a little disgusting but the guy in it is totally hot. Now, I'm not saying I want to date someone that eats live fish on a regular basis, or anything, but having a bit of survival skills is very attractive. Lord knows, I've met enough pampered spoiled man babies to last me 10 lifetimes. Anyway, a picture for your viewing pleasure.

And when I checked my email this morning, Mrs. Becky Bills just informed me of another kicking concert in Memphis next month. Ah! It is actually on a Friday though so that's going to be harder to swing since that means I have to be off for that Thursday if I want to make the drive. What to do? What to do? And she did also strategically mention that the venue is at a casino. Sneaky! Well, I guess I should see what December has in store for me first. So more on that later.

Well, I'm off to break. Hasta pronto!

MULTITASKER GIRL DIES ATLEAST ONCE A YEAR

Thursday, November 08, 2007

After work Tuesday I went to Eli's and he had fed me fried chicken, rice, and soup. He is a sweetie. We watched Blades of Glory on DVD and I napped for like two hours. The next day I was feeling poopier and stayed at home. I was in bed for 90% of the time. I even took NyQuil at like 7pm so I could fall asleep without hacking my lungs out. I was determined to be able to go to work the next day. (You know I'm desperate when I start taking medicine, because I hate medicine, and this kind was the syrup kind. Ewl!) When I woke up this morning I thought I would brave it. I have serious expenses this month so I couldn't miss work at all. I didn't want to take the syrup DayQuil, though, so I stopped by QuikTrip and got some Sudafed tablets. I'm still procrastinating on taking them, so far, I've been able to handle sitting up at my desk. This is going to suck once I have to stand up though, I can tell already. What a day to run out of green tea.

Well, as long as I can sit up I should be good. Along with the meds, I also brought cough drops and clam chowder soup. Pray for me.

MULTITASKER GIRL IS HIGH MAINTENANCE (?)

Tuesday, November 06, 2007

I have asked one of my coworkers to set me up with a friend or two. During our discussions (me talking and him pretending to listen,) he's managed to conclude that I am "high maintenance." Of course, he has since retracted that statement but it still makes me wonder. I keep hearing this term referred to me, and I'm not really sure why. English is a second language, and most words I've learned from the context in which it is used, asking someone, or looking it up. The context that the term is used in is almost always vague, and when I ask people about it I think they are too afraid to offend to really be honest, or maybe there is no clear definition, so I went ahead and took the liberties to look it up:

High maintenance
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

High maintenance[1] is a term which, according to the Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang, was popularized by When Harry Met Sally..., an American film released in 1989.

As a slang term, it may refer to individuals who require an unusual amount of personal attention or who expend substantial amounts of money or time on their physical appearance. It is not always disparaging, and some may describe themselves as high maintenance. The antonym is low maintenance.

Okay - 1) I don't require an unusual amount of personal attention. I only get attention that people lavish me with from the get go. I should not be faulted if the amount of attention I get (even when I don't ask for it) seems to be excessive. 2) I do not "expend" substantial amounts of money and/or time on my physical appearance. I was blessed to not have to. In fact, most days I don't even wear make-up, rarely do I spend time doing my hair, and the only reason I dress well is because I was raised in a fashion conscious household.

Just thought I would clear those things up. Now, I can be perceived as demanding, which I will take the blame for. I expect a lot of things from my friends, and will voice my expectations in a way that might make them seem like demands. For example, I expect my friends to carry themselves in a respectable, non-humiliating manner, when they are out in public with me. Fairly simple, I think.

Anyway, my coworker says he has prospects but he's been kind of dodgy in describing them. Makes me a little weary, but for now I put faith in him and hope that his judgement of character is not lacking. Wish me luck!

MULTITASKER GIRL WRITES A LETTER

Dear Eli,

My throat is still all itchy, I've been coughing all day, and the right side of my head is all hurting, I don't know what's going on. (Now, that I think about it, I hope I don't get you sick tonight.) And like I told you, when I walk it feels like the floors are clouds. I'm feeling all poopy and I really don't want to be at work.

I'm glad that when I told you I was feeling sick you were wearing a suit and feeling like a douche. I'm also glad that feeling like a douche made you decide to act like a douche by being overly nice and offering to take care of sick little me. When you asked me what soup I wanted, I seriously thought you were joking. I'm glad you weren't. For my "meny" I still want soup, steamed rice, fried chicken and tabasco. Even though I think I will get fried chicken for lunch, I'll never get sick of fried chicken, so I hope you get some. I will try to get movies after work, but I won't spend too much time on deciding what to get because I would rather nap. Well, maybe watch the movies and then fall asleep, but then woken up because I have to work tomorrow. (Unless I get sicker.) I think as extra "meny" items I want to remind you that I want soft pillows and blankets, just so you don't forget.

I'm going to lunch soon, and I hope that it makes me feel a bit betterer so I can make it until 5pm at work. I'm sorry I keep bugging you at work while you are in between interviews. I'm just a big baby when I don't feel good, which you know, or you wouldn't offer to take care of me. Anyway, you're going to another interview soon and I have to go to lunch so I will go ahead and post this.

Thanks you lots and lots again. And I will see you after work.

MULTITASKER GIRL IS ADDICTED TO RESEARCH

Monday, November 05, 2007

Apple (Mom's new Filipina friend) mentioned last night a Filipino scandal involving an American TV show showing a picture of former president Cory Aquino with the word "slut" written on it. Mom and I were lost on what she was referring to, and she had not known what the TV show was called. Being addicted to "looking things up" I have looked it up and found it.

Without further delay...

I really haven't watched it. Currently, I'm at work and a coworker jsut asked for help so I'm rushing off. Feel free to comment and I'll review at a later time.

MULTITASKER GIRL WITH FAMILY
This Saturday we had a double-birthday celebration for Ching and Jennifer. It was tons of super fun! Great food, and afterwards we played poker. Logan and I killed at the table. I was so proud of my boy! Anyway, I have tons of pics (and this is only half of them) so I'll keep the blog short. Hopefully, we can all do it again soon.
